While infusing spirits has already been spoken about on this blog it only looked at infusing spirits with fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices. You can find the article here. This article will look at infusing spirits with all things sweet. There are quite a few vodkas in the market at the moment that are flavoured or infused with sweet things but doing it yourself will allow you to tailor the depth of infusion to your own taste.
Empty the marshmallows into the jar and pour over the vodka. Secure the lid tightly and leave for at least 24 hours shake the infusion periodically. If you leave the infusion longer than 24 hours ensure to taste the infusion everyday until it reaches the desired strength. Once your infusion is ready strain through some cheesecloth into a clean bottle. Store in the fridge.
This classic candy infusion will always be a hit at any party.
First separate the skittles into the five separate colours. Place each colour into their individual jars and pour into each jar 280ml of the I Spirit Vodka. Seal the jars and shake well until the colour starts to come away from the skittles. Leave to infuse for 24 hours or until the skittles have dissolved. Strain each infusion through cheesecloth into a jug wash the jars and then pour the infusions back into the jars to store. Keep the infusions in the fridge or freeze so they are always ready to serve.
Other sweets can also be infused according to the two examples above, such as
- Haribo. As one infusion or separate flavours (cola bottles, gummy bears, cherries etc.)
- Candy Canes
- Candy Corn
- Coffee Beans
- Liquorice All Sorts
- Bubble Gum
Pretty much any sweet can be used to infuse spirits it is all about experimenting and remembering to taste the infusion often.
